Shi Xiaolin Meets with Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Margaret Fong
On June 19, Shi Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Sichuan Province, met with the global delegation of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) led by Margaret Fong, Executive Director of HKTDC, in Chengdu.
Shi Xiaolin expressed gratitude on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government to the HKTDC for its long-term support for Sichuan's development. She said that Sichuan was the first province in central and western China to establish an official cooperation mechanism with Hong Kong. Exchanges, cooperation and interactions between Sichuan and Hong Kong have become increasingly extensive and close, and the people of the two places have forged deep bonds. It is hoped that, by taking the delegation's visit as an opportunity, we will deepen research and cooperation, jointly seize major opportunities such as the construction of the national strategic hinterland, the large-scale development of the western region in the new era, and the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, give full play to the respective advantages of Sichuan and Hong Kong, especially Hong Kong's international hub advantage, and explore more integration points and focus points for joint development through the global network platform of the HKTDC. We will intensify efforts to "go global" and "bring in", promote the continuous expansion of economic and trade exchanges between the two places, jointly promote industrial innovation led by scientific and technological innovation, strengthen coordinated development in fields such as culture and tourism, education, finance and logistics, help enterprises actively expand the international market, continuously enhance the level of opening up, jointly address uncertainties in the external environment, and promote more win-win cooperation outcomes in a results-oriented manner for the greater benefit of the people in Sichuan and Hong Kong.
Margaret Fong expressed gratitude to Sichuan Province for its care and support for HKTDC's development in Sichuan. She said that HKTDC will give full play to its global network and resource-linking advantages, promote the strong cooperation between Sichuan and Hong Kong, deepen collaboration in various fields such as economic and trade investment, scientific and technological innovation, medical and health care, cultural tourism, modern logistics and financial services, better assist Sichuan enterprises in going global through Hong Kong and exploring larger markets, and jointly promote Sichuan-Hong Kong cooperation to a new level.
